My First Rag Quilt

I had so much fun making this little quilt

I even had so much fun cutting the seams.
I was a little disappointed that I didn't buy more flannel - I just didn't
want to stop with just one.

Here is the print a little closer

and it was so easy to make
I wanted somthing light so I didn't add any batting.
I followed this video from

I hope you are enjoying your week-end too!!

Mystery Quilt - baby and blue angel's

I decided to make Bonnie's mystery quilt this year - It's my first time.
The quilt is made up of two blocks
This is one block
and this is the other block
I still need to sew all of the block together.
I only have the blocks and the row together on the last row
So much work - and so much fun!!
I have been just taking my time, and enjoying the process - then
I remembered I need to be sewing a quilt for my new grand-daughter - -
she is supposed to arrive March 17.
My daughter had an ultra sound a few days ago and the baby is already
weighing 4lbs4oz
I really think she will come before her due date so I had to stop working
on my quilt along.
I have two quilts for the baby I want to make
and one for her mom
This is going to be so much fun!!

My Unity (Baby Lock) came with a laser light and I used it instead of marking my
fabric with lines from corner to corner and LOVED it.

I love being here at the beach and see the Blue Angels fly over to do some practice
I usually don't have my camera when they come and was so happy to have it today.
Wouldn't you know they didn't stay long today

Usually they have different colors of smoke
and flip all over the place
and are so much closer to my house

but I still enjoyed their fast visit

I look forward to seeing them again.

and I wanted to introduce you Cricket - isn't he so cute!!
He will be one in April.

I have been jumping all over the place today!
Sorry - I just had so much to share - it's been awhile.

until next time - Carol

Hurricane Hunters Quilt

Good morning!!
Well, Christmas is almost here and I didn't get everything finished that I wanted to but at least I did get this quilt done.

My son-in-law is a Hurricane Hunter and he gave me this patch several months ago and asked me if I would make him a quilt.
I have hardly had any time to sew lately and it didn't look like I
was going to be able to make it before Christmas

but I'm so happy I did.

the color is way off - I used a very light blue for the backing and background fabric
and it is showing up a grey here.
The backing is the soft cuddle fleece.
Now to go make sure all the threads are snipped on it and get it wrapped up!

I hope you have a Very Merry Christmas
and the Best Year Ever ahead of you!!!!

Christmas Quilt

Well I finally got this one finished and love how it turned out

I had so much fun stitching out the embroidery designs

these cute designs came from

and I got the fabric from
last year

I haven't had much practice at free hand quilting and I am not that good at it yet.
I love the look of panto's on a quilt, to me they are spaced just perfect to give the
quilts a nice drape and make them nice a cuddly, but I have been making
more tops lately that you just can't use a panto on so I have been getting a little
practice at free hand.
I made three of these tops, two like this one - for my two daughters
and one done in red and green for my son.
I'll show the red and green one when I get it quilted up.
I had some trouble with my wheels while I was quilting this one
so I'm waiting for new wheels to come in.

I hope you have a wonderful week-end!!!

Mustache Quilt Finished

I just finished this one up.

As you can see I wasn't able to edit these photo's.
When I clicked to edit in Picasa
a window told me I have to download google
chrome to edit
I don't like google chrome but I went ahead and
 downloaded it

Then It took me forever to get to my old photo albums

and then the option for text wasn't there - just a bunch of
crap I didn't want to do.
UGH!!!!
I noticed flicker has changed too.
I'm going to go play around with both and see what I can do.
I even tried to upload straight from blogger but on my second photo it just stopped.
This might be my last blog post!!!!

Toy Story Quilt

I had to make a quilt for Big Brother too!!
He loves Toy Story and Buzz is his favorite

I used blue fleece on the back and quilted it
with a panto - Fern Gully -
I thought it would look like some flames, or movement in space.
I'm not sure that I will use this panto again
It looks okay on the front but I don't like the way
it looks on the back. Maybe I will save it
for busy fabric. I really need to order some pantos to use on boy quilts
I mostly have flowers, feathers, hearts and such.

I also made a few bibs and burp pads for Mallory

and some car trash bags - here is what is left -
I've already gifted several of them

Now I'm on my way out to the cottage to load Kenzie's Mustach Quilt.
Thanks for looking!!

Baby Quilt Finished

                                                          Happy Tuesday Morning!
I have a confession --
I have my sewing studio and I also have a spare room inside my house
where I keep my batting, present wrapping stuff, and odds and ends.
This room is also where I take my pictures of the finished quilts.
The room is such a mess I can't get in there to take a picture.
Shame! Shame! Shame!
I thought about straighten it up, but then I don't think I would get the four
quilts finished that I need to before I go back to the beach so I chose to
 take pictures in my studio.
Sorry about the photo's

a close up

I used all stash fabric for this quilt - Yeah ! ! !

I quilted a heart panto but
at the top of the quilt where the name is I did swirls (first time
and I needed more practice) and
outlined the name
I used fleece for the backing -
it is so soft.

Thanks for looking!!!
