Penguin Cheer Blocks 7 and 8
Hello there, it's ME, block 7 from the penguin cheer quilt!!
haha!
and here is block 8
I wasn't thinking when I made the package orange, it blends with the feet too
much so I had to outline the feet with black thread and it helped a little.
It would have been so much cuter if I would have made it with the red and white
polka dot fabric, but oh well---it's cute enough.
and here are the 8 of them I have finished so far.
I won't be sewing any tomorrow.
I am going over to Pensacola to the biggest fabric shop I
have ever been to - A&E.
I really don't need any more fabric but I have to go see what's new
that I might really have to have. (giggle)
(I really do need two fabrics for another quilt I'm making for a
birthday gift.)
I hope you are doing something fun this weekend!

Penguin Cheer Block 6
Here is block 6 of the quilt along.
I was tempted to add a little red heart between the two
penguins (just under the berry) but decided against it.
and the first six all together
Now I'm putting my bathing suit on and heading out to the beach
with my kindle to relax and read. I hope I don't keep thinking about
block 7 while I'm out there. haha!
I hope you are having a good day doing the things you love to do.

Penguin Cheer Bock 5
Well here is block 5 from the Penguin Cheer Quilt Along.
Another block that was fun and fast to put together.
And the first five blocks.
Each time I put a block together it becomes my favorite.
I'm curious to see which block becomes my favorite when the
quilt is finished.
I hope you are having a wonderful day
doing something you like to do!

Penguin Cheer Block 4
Here is block 4 of the Penguin Cheer Quilt
This block is so big it was a little harder to handle but I'm
pleased with the way it turned out.
and here are the first four blocks
I think this is going to be so cute when it's finished
I love happy bright colors
I need to pick out some fabric for the sashing - I think I bought some
lime and orange when I originally bought the fabric but now
I'm thinking maybe lime and red
I usually don't know what I will use until after I get all the blocks sewn
I won't be able to make a block today and I'm not sure about tomorrow
but I can hardly wait to make the next one. This is so much fun!!

Penguin Cheer Block 3
I am having so much fun making these blocks. This is my first quilt with applique without using my embroidery machine. I have a feeling there will be many more.
Here is block 3
Isn't she so cute in her vest and scarf !!
and the first three blocks
In addition to this quilt I have 6 other lap quilts I'm making for
Christmas gifts. I'm so excited about the way those quilts are
turning out too. I can't share them until after Christmas ( it's really
hard to wait) but it feels so good to get an early start this year.
I just finished up a rag quilt for my bed. I didn't get a full view picture
of the quilt but will try to do that when I get back home
Here is a little preview
I made this quilt with flannel for my batting to make it lightweight
for the summer and it is very comfortable. It is not heavy and gives the
perfect amount of warmth.

Penguin Cheer
I found this Penguin Cheer quilt along for free a few years ago and like so many other things I saved all the patterns but just never got around to making it. I saved the patterns every month, even bough fabric but always thought when it got closer to Christmas I'd start it....well I get so busy from Thanksgiving to Christmas, plus last year I hardly had time for sewing so Now seems like a good time. The pattern is no longer for free but you can purchase it here at FatCat Patterns and if you look at the top tab she has some other BOM's going on
Here is block 1
now don't go looking too close haha
I first tried to use a zig-zag stitch and that didn't work out too well. I took
all of that out and redid it with a blanket stitch that I like much better.
I have some penguin dishes here at the beach house that we use in the winter and
I thought a quilt like this would be so cute to go along with them. When I sewed this
first block I couldn't help but notice it is just about perfect size for a placemat.....hum looks
like I might be really busy. I have room for 8 at the table and 6 at the counter top with stools
blocks 1 and 2
I have started crocheting again too so I'll have to share some of that.
Now that I've decided to use my phone camera I think it will be quicker and I might
get to share more. (I have a lot of catching up to do)
The picture's might not be as good but hey it's better then putting off blogging.
I hope you are having a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend.
The beach here is packed, and the water is beautiful!!!
until later - Carol
